Want to live in one of the best neighbourhoods in Barcelona?

The Residence is located in the Sarrià district - Sant Gervasi, one of the greenest areas of the metropolitan area of Barcelona. The Sarrià neighbourhood is one of the most sought-after residential areas of the city due to its proximity to Collserola Natural Park. This park is considered the most important lungs in the city with more than 7,000 hectares of natural Mediterranean forest. Surrounded by parks and green areas, its architecture combines modernist works by Gaudí with elite sports centres, schools and universities. The neighbourhood is known for its village feel, thanks to local shops, small squares and other family-friendly corners that contrast with elements of great historical and cultural value.

Barcelona's 5th district, Sarrià-Sant Gervasi, is an area with unique charm. It is known for its narrow streets and quaint shops that retain a village feel despite being part of a big city. It is considered one of the most exclusive neighbourhoods in Spain. However, its welcoming atmosphere invites you to explore its shops and restaurants, offering a unique shopping and dining experience. The combination of the historical and the contemporary defines the identity of Sarrià, which was annexed to Barcelona in 1921, but retains its pride and autonomy. The people of Sarrià value their thriving community and keep the tradition of village hospitality alive, making it a unique destination in the bustling city of Barcelona.

Over the centuries, Plaça de Sarrià has witnessed historical events and was a meeting point for travellers on their way to different towns. Because of this, the square continues to be a meeting and celebration point for its neighbours, where cultural and popular events are organised. There are also plans to build the Sarrià library, although this has been delayed due to archaeological remains being discovered. Today, Plaça Major de Sarrià continues to be an iconic square that hosts various fairs and events. These include the antiques fair, the artisanal sausage and cured meats fair, the antique book fair and art exhibitions, keeping the neighbourhood’s tradition alive as well as its community spirit.

With more than a century of history, Sarrià Market is a jewel of the past that is still very much alive today and with a promising future. Many of the stalls are run by families who have had them for generations, adding sentimental value and a connection to tradition. Its brick architecture, with a unique aesthetic that includes 22 stained glass windows and a pyramid-shaped façade, makes it a point of architectural interest in the Sarrià neighbourhood. Covering an area of 2,200m2, the market offers a variety of stalls for shopping and tasting, making it a must-visit for those wanting to explore the local cuisine.

The Can Sentmenat Gardens opened in 1995. They belong to the house of the Marquis of Sentmenat. Their formal, French style have an undeniable testimonial value, as they have maintained the original structure and typology. In addition to its elegant gardens, you will find a large pond and a spectacular waterfall preceding a grove of trees with paths and stone benches.

Very close to the Residence is Parc de l'Oreneta or "Swallow" Park, a green oasis in the heart of the Sarrià neighbourhood. This large park, which almost resembles an urban forest, offers a peaceful haven for walking and relaxing.  With its lush Mediterranean vegetation, which has remained virtually untouched since it was opened to the public, it stands out as one of Barcelona's most iconic parks. It is also home to one of the best manned, model railways in Europe, adding an extra attraction to its cultural and leisure activities.

Known as CosmoCaixa, the Science Museum has been a major attraction since its foundation in 1981 and is particularly popular with schools. Housed in what was once a residence for the blind and built in the Art Nouveau style in the early 20th century, this museum offers an interactive and captivating experience in both its permanent and temporary exhibitions. Belonging to the "la Caixa" Foundation, in 2006 it was awarded the European Museum of the Year Award by the European Museum Forum, a recognition that highlights its commitment to excellence and innovation. In 2021, it once again received the Kenneth Hudson Award at the European Museum of the Year Awards.
